How to prepare for your tailoring consultation

Do you find the thought of booking an initial tailoring consultation daunting? Are you worried about being pressured to order or confused about whether bespoke tailoring is for you? Please read on to find out what happens when you first visit my studio…

My tailoring atelier is an unassuming quiet space tucked away at the back of my garden. There is no grand entrance, no dark interior with antique furniture or ornamental carpets. Instead you will see right into my working life – a large cutting table, sewing machines, tailoring mannequins, a desk, books, etc.

Our first meeting is a relaxed chat – about what you are looking for, what you like and don’t like, your expectations, your style inspiration, fabric requirements, etc…I will ask lots of questions and listen carefully to your answers. Our initial consultation is about getting to know each other and about understanding how I can best help you. There is nothing intimidating about the process and I always take as much time as needed.

I will show you fabric samples based on what we discuss and take your measurements. I don’t usually provide quotes on the spot as there are many variables to take into account. However I will be able to give you a rough indication of cost and will follow this up with a full quote in writing after our meeting. You can then decide in what way to go forward with a commission.

It is helpful if you can bring clothes that you like and know flatter you as this will help me understand your fit and style requirements, but this is not essential. Magazine clippings of outfits you like are another great way to show me what look you are aiming for and we can then determine how to make that style work for you.

You will also be able to view and try on my capsule collection. A great starting point for a beautiful tailored dress, jacket, skirt or trousers. These items can be made to order from existing patterns or you can choose a fully bespoke experience that starts with your own unique body measurements.

The initial consultation is free. So please do get in touch to begin your journey into the world of contemporary bespoke tailoring.

Are you short of time and put off by traveling to West London? I can arrange to meet you at your place of work or at home. Please give me a call to discuss this option so that I can make sure to bring appropriate samples relevant to your needs. A small fee based on distance will be charged.
